Hi everyone!
Because of the growing interest for the Ibiza Project from non-dutch speaking countries, I decided to create a small English part of my blog. Here I will post the progress of the project so everyone can understand what I'm babbling about :p
Please click read more to check out the process so far.
So first of all welcome to my blog about my Seat Ibiza (:
I own this 6K TDi GT for about 1,5 years now, and decided to do something unique about its appearance. The In Car Entertainment was already taken care off, by installing a CarPC.
I've spent a long time searching on the internet, when I finally found the bodykit I was looking for; the Seat Ibiza KitCar bodykit.
A couple of weeks ago I started on this project, and took the car apart on the first day:
Then we test fitted the panels, just to see what it would look like. There are still some gaps to work out, but now we have an idea:
I won't be making a full replica of it, in the first place because I can't; It's TDi, not a GTi and in the second place, it will be a daily driver, so I'd still like some comfort ;)
Here's another look at the front panels:
The next step is to glue the back panels to the car..
Check back soon!
ps. Questions? Please leave a message ;)
Part four, the translation ;)
Part four; It's been a few weeks since the last update, so definitely time for an heads up!
De past weeks have been a b*tch; ordered parts not in stock, airplanes wouldn't fly because of some ash thing, glue that won't dry.. so on, so on..
Alright, enough nagging!
Received a new toy last week; a FMIC:
The inside of the car is now not much more than a few pieces of yellow metal plate that is welded together. Strange that it's strong enough.. well, let's not think about that to much..
At the rear of the car we've 'hammered' out the fenders to make room for the tires, which will be fitted with spacers
Because we had to cut off some bodywork at the fenders, we had to glue it together again. A thick layer of sealant, and a pile of rivets, won't come off any time soon I guess!
^ About 2,5cm, should
do just fine
< The insides; Thick layers
of sealant!
Now that there is enough room for the wheels. It's about time those panels get on the car! (maybe next update?)
Part five, The fuelcap
Welcome back :)
Almost a month past, so there are a few updates!
Early this month the left widepanel got glued on. The fun finally starts, because this alows us the work on the little gaps that remain.
The sideskirt and the bodypanel don't close up perfectly. This leaves a little gap, which really has to go! With this gap fixed, the left side is almost finished.
Almost a month ago, I had to receive the fuelcap.. Off course this didn't happen. Delivery time went from 5 days, to a month; without notice.. really anoying!
With the fuelcap arrived, we could start on the right side! First to fit the fuelcap on the original panel, then to fit the panel. Here's some phone pics of the cap
After this was sorted out, and the cap was fitted, we went to glueing the right panel. More of this later
It's back!
So, got it back yeaterday from the painter! It looks really awsome, great to see it in one color finally!
From here on we'll build it up again, getting it ready to drive again!
<insert MacDonald themesong here />
Building it up again!
So, getting it back is one thing, but you still can't drive it then.. So, we started to build it up again, getting ready for takeoff!
There are still some parts at the painter, so can't finish it completly yet..(And I need to find some 50mm spacers still too.. -.-')
